My name is Tyler, I practice physical therapy and I coach strength and conditioning to people in any stage of their fitness journey.

I am from Southern California and I grew up playing some sports but really enjoying math and science more as a student. Sports included baseball, volleyball, and martial arts, however my academic background is grounded in my 7th grade science project where I watched hermit crabs change shells for hours on end.

I pursued a degree in Human Physiology at the University of Oregon, which was an absolute pivotal experience in the development of my career. In addition to studying and dissecting cadavers, I worked as a personal trainer at the student recreation center and I processed biomechanics data for the Bowerman Sports Science Clinic. As I reached peak levels of nerdiness I also found the sport of CrossFit when visiting home for a winter break. These experiences and challenges led me to apply for physical therapy school so that I could elevate my understanding and abilities to help others.

While in graduate school for physical therapy at the University of Southern California, I became a coach at CrossFit Thousand Oaks. The skills gained from this experience go beyond yelling at people to “Push Harder!” I learned how to connect with individuals on their health and fitness journey. Spoilers: This would become an important piece of my clinical practice.

I graduated with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from USC in May of 2019 and moved right up to Portland, Oregon to start working. I started as a coach and took on the role of Director of Training at Woodslawn Fitness in Multnomah Village. I soon began operating my physical therapy clinic in this space as well. I was able to combine my expertise in physical therapy with  my passion to help individuals in their fitness journey. I could now do cupping for a patient’s knee, show them how to front squat, and then explain to them how this would benefit their cycling career. I could provide the physical therapy and strength training needed to support individuals in their varying sports and activities.

Outside of work and fitness, I live near downtown Portland with my fiancée, Abby. We parent a small 4 pound dog named Poppy who tags along for all our adventures including hiking, paddleboarding, and travels up and down the west coast. You will find that my conversation starters tend to revolve around food, so please bring your best Portland restaurant recommendations!
